Pricing
Piggies are free for merchants, as it’s fully subsidized by Piggy and our distribution partners.
We collect a small transaction fee which we continuously reinvest it to further subsidize more free Piggy devices to merchants. This sustainable approach allows us to keep expanding Bitcoin tipping infrastructure while keeping it free for businesses.

What is Lightning?
The Lightning Network is a second layer built on top of Bitcoin that allows for faster and cheaper transactions. Here’s how it works:
Think of Bitcoin like sending mail through the post office – each letter (transaction) gets processed, which takes time and costs money. The Lightning Network is like setting up a direct phone line with someone you talk to often.
Instead of recording every conversation (transaction) on the main Bitcoin network, you:
- Open a payment channel with someone by making one Bitcoin transaction
- Exchange money back and forth through this private channel as much as needed
- Close the channel with a final Bitcoin transaction that records the end result

- Transactions happen almost instantly
- Fees are tiny compared to regular Bitcoin transactions
- You can route payments through other people’s channels to pay anyone on the network
